Status of tension between NO$\nu$A and T2K after Neutrino 2024 and possible role of non-standard neutrino interactions
Sabya Sachi Chatterjee, Antonio Palazzo

TL;DR
This paper analyzes the ongoing tension between NO$ u$A and T2K neutrino experiments regarding CP-phase measurements, exploring whether non-standard neutrino interactions can reconcile their results, with current data hinting at possible NSI effects but requiring more evidence.
Contribution
The study reassesses the tension between NO$ u$A and T2K after Neutrino 2024, demonstrating that NSI can improve agreement and providing updated statistical significance of NSI hints.
Findings
Persistent 2σ tension in $oldsymbol{ ext{CP}}$ phase between experiments.
Including NSI effects aligns the $oldsymbol{ ext{CP}}$ phase measurements.
Current NSI hint has a statistical significance of about 1.8σ.
Abstract
In a previous work we have shown that the data presented by the two long-baseline accelerator experiments NOA and T2K at the Neutrino 2020 conference displayed a tension, and that it could be alleviated by non-standard neutrino interactions (NSI) of the flavor changing type involving the or the sectors with couplings . As a consequence a hint in favor of NSI emerged. In the present paper we reassess the issue in light of the new data released by the two experiments at the Neutrino 2024 conference. We find that the tension in the determination of the standard CP-phase extracted by the two experiments in the normal neutrino mass ordering persists and has a statistical significance of . Concerning the NSI, we find that including their effects in the fit, the two values of…
