A. Alonso-Izquierdo, J. Mateos Guillarte, M. Rees, A. Wereszczynski

TL;DR
This paper discovers a spectral wall phenomenon during vortex collisions in the Abelian Higgs model at critical coupling, occurring when the out-of-phase mode is excited, revealing new dynamics in vortex interactions.
Contribution
It introduces the concept of a spectral wall in vortex collisions and identifies the conditions under which it appears, advancing understanding of vortex dynamics at critical coupling.
Findings
Spectral wall occurs during vortex collisions when out-of-phase mode is excited.
Spectral wall influences vortex interaction dynamics.
The phenomenon is specific to the Abelian Higgs model at critical coupling.
Abstract
We find a spectral wall in collisions of two vortices in the Abelian Higgs model at the critical coupling. It occurs if the out-of-phase mode of initially separated vortices is excited.
