Haiyue Jing, Wenchi Cheng, and Xiang-Gen Xia

TL;DR
This paper introduces a straightforward beamforming method for UCA-based MIMO systems with parallel, non-coaxial arrays, enabling efficient symbol detection without relying on channel state information.
Contribution
It presents a novel, channel-independent beamforming scheme tailored for parallel UCAs, simplifying implementation and detection in line-of-sight MIMO systems.
Findings
The proposed scheme achieves fast symbol-wise maximum likelihood detection.
It simplifies beamforming in UCA-based MIMO without channel knowledge.
The method is suitable for line-of-sight scenarios with parallel UCAs.
Abstract
In this letter, we consider a uniform circular array (UCA)-based line-of-sight multiple-input-multiple-output system, where the transmit and receive UCAs are parallel but non-coaxial with each other. We propose a simple channel-independent beamforming scheme with fast symbol-wise maximum likelihood detection.
