German Beams -- The Story of Particle Accelerators in Germany
Volker Ziemann

TL;DR
This paper narrates the history and development of particle accelerator facilities in Germany, emphasizing their role in advancing physics alongside larger international laboratories.
Contribution
It provides a comprehensive historical overview of German accelerator facilities and their scientific contributions, highlighting their significance in global physics research.
Findings
German accelerator facilities contributed to major physics discoveries.
The development of accelerators in Germany paralleled international progress.
German labs played a key role in national and global scientific advancements.
Abstract
Even though many of the experiments leading to the standard model of particle physics were done at large accelerator laboratories in the US and at CERN, many exciting developments happened in smaller national facilities all over the world. In this report we highlight the history of accelerator facilities in Germany.
