Lukas Rapp, Sisi Miao, Laurent Schmalen

TL;DR
This paper introduces a new soft-aided decoding algorithm for product-like codes that offers near soft-decision turbo decoding performance with low complexity.
Contribution
It presents a novel decoding method that improves error correction in staircase and OFEC codes while keeping computational complexity low.
Findings
Achieves error correction performance comparable to soft-decision turbo decoding.
Maintains low computational complexity.
Applicable to general product-like codes.
Abstract
We propose a novel soft-aided hard-decision decoding algorithm for general product-like codes. It achieves error correcting performance similar to that of a soft-decision turbo decoder for staircase and OFEC codes, while maintaining a low complexity.
