Mitigating Smishing: Challenges and Future Work
Cori Faklaris

TL;DR
This paper discusses the main challenges in preventing smishing attacks, including device limitations, infrastructure complexity, and user behavior, and explores potential mitigation strategies and future research directions.
Contribution
It provides a high-level overview of the key challenges in smishing mitigation and proposes ideas to address these issues.
Findings
Identifies device, infrastructure, and user factors as primary smishing challenges.
Suggests potential mitigation strategies for each challenge.
Highlights areas for future research in smishing prevention.
Abstract
This paper describes three principal challenges in smishing mitigation - limitations of device affordances, complexity of infrastructure, and cognitive and contextual factors of mobile device use. We give a high-level overview of ideas that can mitigate smishing and work around these challenges.
