TL;DR
This paper demonstrates a fast control plane for large-scale optical circuit switches, achieving 100 microseconds configuration time using SDN and EtherCAT, enabling scalable high-speed optical networking.
Contribution
It introduces a novel control plane architecture that significantly reduces configuration time for large-scale optical switches using SDN and EtherCAT.
Findings
Configuration time of 100 microseconds verified experimentally
Supports over 1000 racks in a large-scale system
Utilizes SDN and EtherCAT for rapid control
Abstract
We experimentally verify a fast control plane with 100 microseconds of configuration time that can support more than 1000 racks, leveraged by a software-defined network controller and an industrial real-time Ethernet standard EtherCAT.
