Quadratic Equations in Elamite Mathematics
Nasser Heydari, Kazuo Muroi

TL;DR
This paper explores quadratic equations in the Susa Mathematical Texts, revealing that Elamite scribes used standard methods like completing the square to solve these equations in various problems.
Contribution
It uncovers the use of quadratic equations and solution techniques in ancient Elamite mathematics, highlighting their mathematical sophistication.
Findings
Susa scribes employed completing the square for solving quadratics.
Quadratic equations appeared in multiple problem contexts.
The study provides insight into ancient mathematical practices.
Abstract
In this article, we study some of quadratic equations and their solutions found in the Susa Mathematical Texts (\textbf{SMT}). We show that the Susa scribes used this group of equations in different problems and took a standard approach, known as completing the square, to find solutions
