Exploring the effectiveness of ChatGPT-based feedback compared with teacher feedback and self-feedback: Evidence from Chinese to English translation
Siyi Cao, Linping Zhong

TL;DR
This study compares ChatGPT-based feedback with traditional teacher and self-feedback in Chinese-English translation, finding ChatGPT improves lexical and cohesion features but is less effective for syntax development.
Contribution
It provides empirical evidence on ChatGPT's effectiveness as a supplementary feedback tool in translation education, contrasting it with conventional methods.
Findings
ChatGPT enhances lexical and cohesion features in translations.
Teacher and self-feedback are more effective for syntax improvement.
ChatGPT serves as a useful supplementary resource in translation training.
Abstract
ChatGPT,a cutting-edge AI-powered Chatbot, can quickly generate responses on given commands. While it was reported that ChatGPT had the capacity to deliver useful feedback, it is still unclear about its effectiveness compared with conventional feedback approaches, such as teacher feedback (TF) and self-feedback (SF).
