TL;DR
This paper explores new brane-like solutions in a modified four-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity, demonstrating the existence of thick brane configurations supported by scalar fields in both original and regularized theories.
Contribution
It introduces novel thick brane solutions in 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity with scalar field sources, valid in both the original and regularized formulations.
Findings
Existence of thick brane solutions supported by scalar fields.
Solutions are valid in both original and regularized 4D EGB theories.
Configurations exhibit controllable thickness.
Abstract
We investigate solutions of a new Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity ( ). We first describe the bulk vacuum solution, then we add a massive probe scalar field, and we follow considering a self-interacting scalar field which acts as a source to support thick brane solutions in the four-dimensional scenario with a single extra dimension of infinite extent. We illustrate our results with some distinct brane-like configurations engendering controllable thickness. It is noteworthy that such configurations are simultaneous solutions in both versions of the modified theory of gravity, the original Glavan and Lin formulation and the regularized .
