TL;DR
This study analyzes high-statistics GlueX data for the $ o J/ ext{ extmu} p$ reaction to evaluate the plausibility of the $P_c(4312)^+$ pentaquark state, revealing a dip structure consistent with interference effects.
Contribution
It introduces a model fitting approach to GlueX data to test the existence of the $P_c(4312)^+$ state and discusses the interference effects that could produce observed structures.
Findings
A dip structure near 75 MeV below the LHCb mass was observed.
Interference effects can mimic resonance signals in the data.
Limitations of the current model highlight the need for better statistics.
Abstract
New high-statistics total cross section data for from the GLUonic EXcitation (GlueX) experiment are fitted in a search for the exotic state observed by the Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) collaboration. The integrated luminosity of this GlueX experiment was about . The fits show that destructive interference involving an -wave resonance and associated non-resonance background produces a sharp dip structure about below the LHCb mass, in the same location as a similar structure is seen in the data. Limitations of the employed model and the need for improved statistics are discussed.
