TL;DR
This paper confirms two temperate gas giants transiting mid-M dwarfs in wide binary systems, characterizes their properties, and highlights their potential for atmospheric studies and understanding planetary migration.
Contribution
It reports the discovery and detailed characterization of two new temperate gas giants orbiting M dwarfs with wide binary companions, using combined observational techniques.
Findings
Both planets are among the coolest gas giants around M dwarfs.
The planets are favorable targets for atmospheric characterization.
The systems provide insights into planetary migration in binary environments.
Abstract
We confirm the planetary nature of two gas giants discovered by TESS to transit M dwarfs with stellar companions at wide separations. TOI-3984 A () is an M4 dwarf hosting a short-period ( days) gas giant ( and ) with a wide separation white dwarf companion. TOI-5293 A () is an M3 dwarf hosting a short-period ( days) gas giant ( and ) with a wide separation M dwarf companion. We characterize both systems using a combination of ground-based and space-based photometry, speckle imaging, and high-precision radial velocities from the Habitable-zone Planet Finder and NEID spectrographs. TOI-3984 A b ( K and ) and TOI-5293 A b ( K and…
