Measurement of the production of a $W$ boson in association with a charmed hadron in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13\,\mathrm{TeV}$ with the ATLAS detector
The ATLAS Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper measures the production rate of a W boson with a charm quark in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV using the ATLAS detector, providing detailed cross-sections and insights into quark asymmetries.
Contribution
First measurement of W boson production with charm quarks at 13 TeV, with differential cross-sections and charm-anticharm production ratio analysis.
Findings
Measured fiducial cross-sections for W + charm meson production.
Compared results with next-to-leading-order QCD predictions.
Studied charm to anti-charm production ratio, indicating s-anti-s quark asymmetry.
Abstract
The production of a boson in association with a single charm quark is studied using 140 of proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The charm quark is tagged by a charmed hadron, reconstructed with a secondary-vertex fit. The boson is reconstructed from an electron/muon decay and the missing transverse momentum. The mesons reconstructed are and , where , , , and . The integrated and normalized differential cross-sections as a function of the pseudorapidity of the lepton from the boson decay, and of the transverse momentum of the meson, are extracted from the data using a…
