Measurement of the fraction of jet longitudinal momentum carried by $\Lambda_{\rm c}^+$ baryons in pp collisions
ALICE Collaboration

TL;DR
This study measures how much of the jet's longitudinal momentum is carried by $ m \Lambda_c^+$ baryons in proton-proton collisions, providing insights into charm-quark fragmentation and baryon production mechanisms.
Contribution
First measurement of the longitudinal momentum fraction of $ m \\Lambda_c^+$ baryons in pp collisions, comparing data with models and previous meson fragmentation results.
Findings
Charm baryon fragmentation appears softer than charm mesons.
Results support models with color correlations beyond leading-color.
Data aligns with hadronisation models including complex color dynamics.
Abstract
Recent measurements of charm-baryon production in hadronic collisions have questioned the universality of charm-quark fragmentation across different collision systems. In this work the fragmentation of charm quarks into charm baryons is probed, by presenting the first measurement of the longitudinal jet momentum fraction carried by baryons, , in hadronic collisions. The results are obtained in proton-proton (pp) collisions at TeV at the LHC, with baryons and charged (track-based) jets reconstructed in the transverse momentum intervals of GeV/ and GeV/, respectively. The distribution is compared to a measurement of -tagged charged jets in pp collisions as well as to PYTHIA…
