Shu-Chiuan Chang, Robert Shrock

TL;DR
This paper introduces new measures of spin ordering in the Potts model under a generalized external magnetic field, extending traditional measures to account for subsets of spin values, with illustrative calculations provided.
Contribution
It develops generalized measures of spin ordering in the Potts model for fields favoring subsets of spins, expanding beyond single-value external fields.
Findings
New measures of spin ordering for subset-favoring fields
Comparison with single-value external field measures
Illustrative calculations demonstrating the measures
Abstract
We formulate measures of spin ordering in the -state ferromagnetic Potts model in a generalized external magnetic field that favors or disfavors spin values in a subset of the total set of values. The results are contrasted with the corresponding measures of spin ordering in the case of a conventional external magnetic field that favors or disfavors a single spin value out of total set of values. Some illustrative calculations are included.
