TL;DR
This study evaluates how biodiesel from crambe abyssinica, produced with different catalysts, affects engine performance, combustion characteristics, and emissions when blended with diesel at various loads.
Contribution
It provides experimental analysis of crambe abyssinica biodiesel blends with KOH and NaOH catalysts, highlighting their effects on engine efficiency and emissions.
Findings
NaOH catalyst blends showed lower BSFC at all loads
CAK B25 blend achieved highest thermal efficiency
Standard diesel fuel more prone to knocking
Abstract
In this study, biodiesel fuel produced from crambe abyssinica plant using KOH and NaOH catalysts was mixed with standard diesel fuel and the effects on engine performance, combustion and emission were experimentally investigated. Standard diesel fuel and 6 different fuel mixtures were tested at 3.75, 7.5, 11.25 and 15 Nm engine loads. During the experiment, in-cylinder pressure data were specified depending on crank angle for each test fuel and engine load. In addition, measurements of HC, NOx, CO and smoke emissions were carried out. With the obtained experimental data, parameters such as heat release rate, combustion stages, thermal efficiency, indicated mean effective pressure (imep), ignition delay (ID), ringing intensity (RI) and specific fuel consumptions (SFC) were calculated and evaluated in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The same concentrated crambe abyssinica with NaOH catalyst…
