J/$\psi$ production at midrapidity in p$-$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 8.16$ TeV
ALICE Collaboration

TL;DR
This study measures J/ψ production at midrapidity in p-Pb collisions at 8.16 TeV, separating prompt and non-prompt contributions, and finds nuclear modification factors consistent with no suppression, supporting shadowing models.
Contribution
First measurement of inclusive, prompt, and non-prompt J/ψ production at midrapidity in p-Pb collisions at 8.16 TeV with ALICE, utilizing online electron triggers for the first time.
Findings
Nuclear modification factors are consistent with unity.
Prompt and non-prompt J/ψ are separated statistically.
Results support nuclear shadowing as the main nuclear effect.
Abstract
The production of inclusive, prompt and non-prompt J/ was studied for the first time at midrapidity () in pPb collisions at TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The inclusive J/ mesons were reconstructed in the dielectron decay channel in the transverse momentum () interval GeV/ and the prompt and non-prompt contributions were separated on a statistical basis for GeV/. The study of the J/ mesons in the dielectron channel used for the first time in ALICE online single-electron triggers from the Transition Radiation Detector, providing a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . The protonproton reference cross section for inclusive J/ was obtained based on interpolations of measured data at different…
