Charmonium production in $p$Ne collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=68.5$ GeV
LHCb Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper reports on the measurement of charmonium production in proton-neon collisions at 68.5 GeV, providing new cross-section data and relative production rates relevant for understanding quarkonium production in fixed-target experiments.
Contribution
It presents the first measurement of $J/\psi$ and $\psi(2S)$ production cross-sections in $p$Ne collisions at this energy, with detailed results and comparison to existing data.
Findings
$J/\psi$ production cross-section: 506 ± 8 ± 25 nb/nucleon.
$\psi(2S)$ to $J/\psi$ ratio: (1.67 ± 0.27 ± 0.10)%
Results are consistent with previous measurements involving similar nuclei.
Abstract
The measurement of charmonium states produced in proton-neon (Ne) collisions by the LHCb experiment in its fixed-target configuration is presented. The production of and mesons is studied with a beam of 2.5 TeV protons colliding on gaseous neon targets at rest, corresponding to a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy GeV. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of nb. The and hadrons are reconstructed in final states. The production cross-section per target nucleon in the centre-of-mass rapidity range is found to be . The to relative production rate is found to be in good agreement with other measurements involving beam and target nuclei of similar sizes.
