Stella Civelli, Enrico Forestieri, Marco Secondini

TL;DR
This paper introduces two new techniques for sequence selection in fiber nonlinear channels, achieving significant shaping gain close to theoretical limits, which enhances fiber communication performance.
Contribution
The paper presents novel sequence selection methods for nonlinear probabilistic shaping, approaching the capacity lower bound in fiber nonlinearity mitigation.
Findings
Achieved a nonlinear shaping gain of 0.24 bits/s/Hz.
Performance is within 0.1 bits/s/Hz of the SS capacity lower bound.
Demonstrated effective fiber nonlinearity mitigation using the proposed techniques.
Abstract
We propose two novel techniques to implement sequence selection (SS) for fiber nonlinearity mitigation, demonstrating a nonlinear shaping gain of 0.24 bits/s/Hz, just 0.1 bits/s/Hz below the SS capacity lower bound.
