Projected transverse momentum resummation in top-antitop pair production at LHC
Wan-Li Ju, Marek Sch\"onherr

TL;DR
This paper introduces a novel projected transverse momentum spectrum for top-antitop pairs at the LHC, enabling high-precision resummation that accounts for azimuthal asymmetries, with detailed theoretical analysis and resummation results.
Contribution
It proposes the projected transverse momentum spectrum as an alternative to traditional methods, allowing for high-precision resummation of azimuthal asymmetries in top pair production.
Findings
Resummed spectra evaluated at NLL+NLO, NNLL+NNLO, and approximate NNLL'+NNLO accuracy.
First assessment of the azimuthal spectrum ΔΦ_{tar{t}} at or beyond NNLL level with consistent radiation treatment.
Demonstration of factorization pattern in the projected spectrum despite azimuthal asymmetries.
Abstract
The transverse momentum distribution of the system is of both experimental and theoretical interest. In the presence of the azimuthally asymmetric divergences, pursuing the resummation at the high logarithmic precision is rather demanding in general. In this paper, we propose the projected transverse momentum spectrum , which is derived from the classical spectrum by integrating out the rejection component with respect to a reference unit vector , to serve as an alternative resolution to curb those asymmetric influences, in additional to the azimuthally averaged case . In the context of the effective field theories, SCET and HQET, we will demonstrate that in spite of the …
