Abstract
We prove a Marcinkiewicz testing condition for the boundedness of Schur multipliers on the Schatten -classes. This generalizes a previous work of J. Bourgain for Toeplitz type Schur multipliers. As a corollary, we obtain a new unconditional decomposition for the Schatten -classes ().
