TL;DR
This paper reports a precise measurement of the $K_S o \pi e u$ decay branching fraction using the KLOE experiment, improving understanding of kaon semileptonic decays and CKM matrix elements.
Contribution
The study provides a new, highly precise measurement of the $K_S o \pi e u$ branching fraction, combining with previous data to refine the value and extract $f_+(0)|V_{us}|$.
Findings
Branching fraction $ imes 10^{-4}$: (7.153 ± 0.037 stat ± 0.043 syst)
Derived $f_+(0)|V_{us}|$ value: 0.2170 ± 0.009
Improved precision over previous measurements
Abstract
The branching fraction for the decay has been measured with a sample of 300 million mesons produced in decays recorded by the KLOE experiment at the DANE collider. Signal decays are selected by a boosted decision tree built with kinematic variables and time-of-flight measurements. Data control samples of decays are used to evaluate signal selection efficiencies. A fit to the reconstructed electron mass distribution finds 49647316 signal events. Normalising to the decay events the result for the branching fraction is . The combination with our previous measurement gives . From this value we…
