Searches for additional Higgs bosons and for vector leptoquarks in $\tau\tau$ final states in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV
CMS Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper reports on three searches for new physics in tau-tau final states at the LHC, setting limits on new bosons and leptoquarks, with some excesses observed that could hint at beyond Standard Model phenomena.
Contribution
It presents the first comprehensive search for additional Higgs bosons and vector leptoquarks in tau-tau channels at 13 TeV, including new limits and potential excesses.
Findings
Two excesses at 0.1 and 1.2 TeV with ~3 sigma significance
Upper limits on new boson production cross sections ranging from 10 pb to 0.3 fb
Constraints on vector leptoquark couplings up to 6 for 5 TeV mass
Abstract
Three searches are presented for signatures of physics beyond the standard model (SM) in final states in proton-proton collisions at the LHC, using a data sample collected with the CMS detector at = 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb. Upper limits at 95% confidence level (CL) are set on the products of the branching fraction for the decay into leptons and the cross sections for the production of a new boson , in addition to the H(125) boson, via gluon fusion (gg) or in association with b quarks, ranging from (10 pb) for a mass of 60 GeV to 0.3 fb for a mass of 3.5 TeV each. The data reveal two excesses for gg production with local -values equivalent to about three standard deviations at = 0.1 and 1.2 TeV. In a search for -channel exchange of a vector leptoquark U, 95% CL upper…
