Nelson Alvarado

TL;DR
This paper investigates how non-simple abelian surfaces degenerate within the toroidal compactification of the moduli space, describing the resulting degenerate surfaces and embedded elliptic curves.
Contribution
It provides a detailed description of degenerations of non-simple abelian surfaces and the structure of degenerate elliptic curves within them.
Findings
Classification of degenerate abelian surfaces
Description of degenerate elliptic curves
Insights into boundary behavior in moduli space
Abstract
We study degenerations of non-simple principally polarized abelian surfaces to the boundary in the toroidal compactification of , and describe the degenerate abelian surfaces as well as the degenerate elliptic curves that live inside them.
