A. J. Schwartz

TL;DR
This paper calculates a small correction to the $y_{CP}$ parameter used in $D^0$-$ar{D}^0$ mixing studies, accounting for charm mixing and $CP$ violation effects to improve measurement accuracy.
Contribution
It provides a detailed calculation of the correction to $y_{CP}$ due to charm mixing and $CP$ violation, enhancing precision in mixing parameter measurements.
Findings
Quantifies the correction to $y_{CP}$ from charm mixing and $CP$ violation.
Shows the correction is small but significant for high-precision measurements.
Provides formulas to incorporate the correction in experimental analyses.
Abstract
The parameter is used to characterize mixing in the - meson system. To determine , one measures the effective decay width of a or decaying to a eigenstate, relative to the effective width for a decay to a Cabibbo-favored, flavor-specific final state. When using to extract information about - mixing and violation, the decay width of the Cabibbo-favored decay is usually assumed to equal , the reciprocal of the lifetime. However, there is a small correction to this that should be taken into account when is measured with sufficiently high precision. We calculate this correction in terms of charm mixing and violation parameters , , , and .
