TL;DR
This paper introduces the multicolour East model, a complex glass-forming liquid model with multiple vacancy types and novel blocking mechanisms, analyzing its spectral gap and ergodicity properties across different dimensions and parameters.
Contribution
It extends the East model to multiple vacancy types with unique facilitation rules, providing conditions for positive spectral gap and ergodicity, and analyzing the model's behavior in various regimes.
Findings
Model has positive spectral gap under certain geometric conditions.
The model with 2^d vacancy types is non-ergodic.
Spectral gap approximates that of the East model with minimal vacancy rate.
Abstract
We consider the multicolour East model, a model of glass forming liquids closely related to the East model on . The state space consists of different vacancy types and the neutral state . To each we associate unique facilitation mechanisms that correspond to rotated versions of the East model constraints. If is satisfied, the state on can transition from to with rate or vice versa with rate , where generally if . Notably, vertices in the state cannot transition directly to and neighbouring -vacancies do not contribute in satisfying . Thus, there is a novel blocking mechanism between vacancies of differing type. We find sufficient conditions on the model geometry to…
