Are Fairness Perceptions Shaped by Income Inequality? Evidence from Latin America
Leonardo Gasparini, Germ\'an Reyes

TL;DR
This study investigates how objective income inequality influences fairness perceptions in Latin America, revealing a strong correlation and identifying demographic factors affecting fairness views, with implications for social unrest.
Contribution
It provides empirical evidence linking income inequality to fairness perceptions and explores how these perceptions relate to social mobilization in Latin America.
Findings
Income inequality strongly correlates with unfairness views.
Older, unemployed, and left-wing individuals perceive more unfairness.
Fairness views and income inequality independently predict social unrest.
