Why source-free gravity must be quantized
S.Deser

TL;DR
This paper argues that source-free General Relativity inherently requires quantization due to classical ultraviolet catastrophes, challenging some existing opinions and highlighting subtle theoretical issues.
Contribution
It demonstrates, through fundamental reasoning, that even source-free gravity cannot remain classical, establishing the necessity of quantization in this context.
Findings
Classical ultraviolet catastrophe in source-free gravity.
Necessity of quantization for consistency of gravity.
Challenges to prevailing opinions on classical gravity.
Abstract
I show, on the most elementary grounds, its classical ultraviolet catastrophe, that even source-free General Relativity must be quantized, despite some eminent opinions to the contrary, an original result involving some rather tricky subtleties.
