Ievgen Kabin, Zoya Dyka, Dan Kreiser, Peter Langendoerfer

TL;DR
This paper presents a unified field multiplier for elliptic curve cryptography that uses a 4-segment Karatsuba method, offering inherent resistance against certain horizontal side-channel attacks.
Contribution
It introduces a novel unified multiplier for EC operations in two Galois fields, leveraging a 4-segment Karatsuba approach for improved security.
Findings
Achieves resistance to selected horizontal side-channel attacks
Utilizes a 4-segment Karatsuba multiplication method
Supports EC operations in two types of Galois fields
Abstract
In this paper we introduce a unified field multiplier for the EC kP operation in two different types of Galois fields. The most important contributions of this paper are that the multiplier is based on the 4-segment Karatsuba multiplication method and that it is inherent resistant against selected horizontal attacks.
