Beam parameters of a M\"obius ring
Volker Ziemann (FREIA, Uppsala University)

TL;DR
This paper investigates a racetrack-shaped ring with adjustable cross-plane coupling, including a M"obius configuration, analyzing how beam parameters like tunes and emittances vary with coupling changes.
Contribution
It introduces a novel racetrack-shaped ring capable of continuously varying coupling, including a M"obius configuration, and calculates beam parameters as a function of this coupling.
Findings
Beam parameters depend on the coupling configuration.
The ring can transition between uncoupled and M"obius configurations.
Synchrotron radiation effects are analyzed in relation to coupling.
Abstract
We describe a racetrack-shaped ring in which the cross-plane coupling can be continuously varied between an uncoupled configuration to a M\"obius configuration, where the transverse planes change role after one turn. Tunes, emittances, and other beam parameters that depend on the emission of synchrotron radiation are calculated as a function of the coupling.
