A survey on product codes and 2-D codes
Amajit Sarma

TL;DR
This paper surveys the theory and properties of product codes, especially cyclic and their generalizations, focusing on their construction and mathematical characteristics.
Contribution
It provides a comprehensive overview of cyclic product codes and their generalizations, consolidating existing knowledge in a unified survey.
Findings
Summarizes key properties of cyclic product codes
Highlights generalizations and their implications
Provides a foundation for future research in code design
Abstract
One of the simplest way of combining codes to form new codes is to take their direct product. Direct product of cyclic codes and various generalizations have been studied for many years. In this note, we survey cyclic product codes, direct product of various generalizations of cyclic codes and their properties.
