Natural F-theory constructions of Standard Model structure from $E_7$ flux breaking
Shing Yan Li, Washington Taylor

TL;DR
This paper constructs a broad class of 4D F-theory models where an $E_7$ gauge group is broken via fluxes to produce the Standard Model, including models with three generations of chiral matter.
Contribution
It introduces a new framework for realizing Standard Model structures from $E_7$ flux breaking in F-theory, highlighting models with realistic three-generation matter content.
Findings
Many models with $E_7$ flux breaking lead to Standard Model gauge groups.
Large families of models with an intermediate $ ext{SU}(5)$ group are identified.
Three generations of chiral matter can be achieved in these models.
Abstract
We describe a broad class of 4D F-theory models in which an gauge group is broken through fluxes to the Standard Model gauge group. These models are ubiquitous in the 4D F-theory landscape and can arise from flux breaking of most models with factors. While in many cases the breaking leads to exotic matter, there are large families of models in which the Standard Model gauge group and chiral matter representations are obtained through an intermediate group. The number of generations of matter appearing in these models can easily be small. We demonstrate the possibility of getting three generations of chiral matter as the preferred matter content.
