Large deviations for a binary collision model: energy evaporation
Giada Basile, Dario Benedetto, Lorenzo Bertini, Emanuele Caglioti

TL;DR
This paper investigates the probability of rare energy loss events in a discrete energy Kac-like model, providing insights into large deviations and energy evaporation phenomena.
Contribution
It introduces a large deviation analysis for a binary collision model, highlighting the exponentially small probability of energy evaporation paths.
Findings
Identification of a specific energy loss path with exponentially small probability.
Quantitative characterization of large deviations in the energy distribution.
Insights into the rare event dynamics of energy evaporation in particle systems.
Abstract
We analyze the large deviations for a discrete energy Kac-like walk. In particular, we exhibit a path, with probability exponentially small in the number of particles, that looses energy.
