TL;DR
Celestial holography suggests a duality linking gravitational scattering amplitudes to conformal field theory correlators on the celestial sphere, with implications for understanding quantum gravity and potential experimental tests.
Contribution
This white paper reviews the motivation, foundational aspects, applications, and open questions of celestial holography, highlighting recent progress and future directions.
Findings
Establishes a duality between the S-matrix and celestial CFT correlators
Connects asymptotic symmetries with holographic principles
Identifies open questions and potential experimental implications
Abstract
Celestial holography proposes a duality between the gravitational -matrix and correlators in a conformal field theory living on the celestial sphere. In this white paper, solicited for the 2022 Snowmass process, we review the motivation from asymptotic symmetries, fundamentals of the proposed holographic dictionary, potential applications to experiment and theory, and some important open questions.
