Contribution
It introduces a method to calculate Green functions for a chain with linearly varying on-site energies within the tight-binding framework.
Findings
Green functions depend on system parameters
Analysis of electron transport through the biased chain
Potential applications in molecular electronics
Abstract
On the basis of the tight-binding formalism and Green function technique we obtain all the Green functions matrix elements for a biased chain with a linear variation of the electron on-site energy. Their dependence on the system parameters is analyzed in the context of through-molecule electron transport.
