High-energy elastic diffractive scattering of nucleons in the framework of the two-Reggeon eikonal approximation (from U-70 to LHC)
A.A. Godizov

TL;DR
This paper models high-energy elastic nucleon scattering using a two-Reggeon eikonal approximation, demonstrating its validity from U-70 energies to LHC energies and providing predictive insights into scattering behavior.
Contribution
It introduces a phenomenological scheme that approximates the proton-proton eikonal with two Reggeon exchanges, extending applicability across a wide energy range.
Findings
The eikonal can be approximated by soft Pomeron and f-Reggeon contributions.
The approximation's validity range is established.
The scheme's predictive power is verified.
Abstract
Elastic diffractive scattering of nucleons is described in terms of Regge-eikonal approach. It is demonstrated that, in a wide kinematic region (starting from the U-70 energies), the eikonal of proton-proton scattering can be approximated by the sum of two Reggeon exchange terms (namely, the so-called soft Pomeron and -Reggeon contributions). The range of applicability of the considered approximation is determined. The predictive value of the proposed phenomenological scheme is verified.
