TL;DR
This paper investigates polarization effects in coherent phi-OTDR fiber sensors and demonstrates that dual polarization probing significantly improves measurement accuracy over single polarization methods.
Contribution
It introduces dual polarization probing as a novel approach to enhance the accuracy of coherent phi-OTDR fiber sensors.
Findings
Dual polarization probing outperforms single polarization in accuracy.
Polarization-insensitive interrogation improves sensor reliability.
Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Abstract
We explore the alternatives for interrogating a fiber sensor from the polarization point of view, and demonstrate a better accuracy with dual polarization probing for coherent phi-OTDR compared with single polarization probing.
