General balance functions of identified charged hadron pairs of $(\pi,{\rm K},{\rm p})$ in Pb$-$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 2.76$ TeV
ALICE Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper presents the first measurements of balance functions for all charged hadron pairs in Pb-Pb collisions at 2.76 TeV, revealing how these correlations vary with collision centrality and providing insights into quark production and transport.
Contribution
It introduces the first comprehensive measurement of identified charged hadron pair balance functions in Pb-Pb collisions at LHC energies, analyzing their dependence on collision centrality and kinematic variables.
Findings
BF azimuthal widths decrease from peripheral to central collisions
Longitudinal widths of $ m extpi extpi$ and cross-species pairs narrow with centrality
Charge balancing fractions are nearly independent of collision centrality
Abstract
First measurements of balance functions (BFs) of all combinations of identified charged hadron pairs in PbPb collisions at TeV recorded by the ALICE detector are presented. The BF measurements are carried out as two-dimensional differential correlators versus the relative rapidity () and azimuthal angle () of hadron pairs, and studied as a function of collision centrality. The dependence of BFs is expected to be sensitive to the light quark diffusivity in the quarkgluon plasma. While the BF azimuthal widths of all pairs substantially decrease from peripheral to central collisions, the longitudinal widths exhibit mixed behaviors: BFs of and cross-species pairs narrow significantly in more central collisions, whereas those of and are found to be independent of collision…
