TL;DR
This paper proposes an inclusive decay channel for discovering beauty-charmed baryons $\\Xi_{bc}$ at the LHC, emphasizing the displaced $\\Xi_{cc}^{++}$ as a key signature to reduce background and estimating hundreds of events during Run 3.
Contribution
It introduces the $\\Xi_{bc} o \\Xi_{cc}^{++}+X$ decay as a promising discovery channel and calculates its branching ratio using heavy diquark effective theory.
Findings
Hundreds of $\\Xi_{bc}$ events expected at LHCb Run 3.
Displaced $\\Xi_{cc}^{++}$ reduces background significantly.
Feasibility of $\\Xi_{bc}^+$ search with improved lifetime and displacement analysis.
Abstract
With a distinctive internal structure from all established hadrons, the beauty-charmed baryons can provide us with new points of view to decipher the strong interaction. In this work, we point out that the inclusive decay is a golden channel for the experimental discovery of at the LHC. A unique feature of this process is that the is displaced, which greatly reduces the combinatorial background. A feasibility analysis is performed on the search, which is expected to have a longer lifetime than and thus a better displacement resolution. The branching ratio is calculated within the heavy diquark effective theory. Combining the production rate and the detection efficiency, we anticipate that hundreds of signal events will be collected…
