TL;DR
This paper investigates the initial vibrational level distribution of electrons in a relativistic strophotron free-electron laser, linking it to initial beam parameters to understand electron behavior.
Contribution
It provides a new method to express vibrational level populations based on initial electron beam parameters in a relativistic FEL.
Findings
Vibrational levels can be calculated from initial beam parameters.
Distribution of electrons over vibrational levels is characterized.
Theoretical framework for initial electron distribution in FELs.
Abstract
We study the initial distribution of electrons in relativistic strophotron FEL over vibrational levels determined by the expansion coefficients. We show the quantity of the vibrational level can be expressed in terms of the initial parameters of the electron beam.
