TL;DR
This paper develops a high-energy factorization framework within BFKL to analyze exclusive rho-meson production, using it to probe the proton's small-x gluon structure and discriminate between different unintegrated gluon distribution models.
Contribution
It establishes a new factorization formula for exclusive vector meson production and demonstrates how polarization-sensitive observables can distinguish UGD models.
Findings
Impact of polarization states on UGD discrimination
Progress in modeling exclusive rho-meson production at HERA and EIC energies
Potential to refine gluon distribution understanding at small-x
Abstract
Exclusive emissions of vector mesons in forward directions of rapidity offer us a faultless chance to probe the proton structure at small-. A high-energy factorization formula is established within BFKL, given as the convolution of an impact factor depicting the forward-meson emission and of an unintegrated gluon distribution (UGD) driving the gluon evolution at small-. As a nonperturbative quantity, the UGD is not well known and several models for it exist. We present recent progresses on the study of the exclusive forward -meson leptoproduction at HERA and EIC energies, showing how osbervables sensitive to different polarization states of the -particle act as discriminators for the existing UGD models.
