Zhong-Yi Li, An-Xin Dai, and Ju-Jun Xie

TL;DR
This paper proposes that a near-threshold bound state or vector resonances explain the enhanced cross section in the $e^+e^- o \Lambdaar{\Lambda}$ reaction, using the vector meson dominance model.
Contribution
It introduces a new narrow state near the $\Lambdaar{\Lambda}$ threshold and demonstrates its dominance in near-threshold production, improving previous theoretical estimates.
Findings
Identification of a possible new narrow state at 2231 MeV with a few MeV width.
Reproduction of near-threshold enhancement using established vector resonances.
The new state explains the underestimation of cross sections in previous models.
Abstract
The near-threshold reaction is studied with the assumption that the production mechanism is due to a near--threshold bound state. The cross section of reaction is parametrized in terms of the electromagnetic form factors of hyperon, which are obtained with the vector meson dominance model. It is shown that the contribution to the reaction from a new narrow state with quantum numbers is dominant for energies very close to threshold. The mass of this new state is around 2231 MeV, which is very close to the mass threshold of , while its width is just a few MeV. This gives a possible solution to the problem that all previous calculations seriously underestimate the near-threshold total cross section of the $e^+e^- \to…
