TL;DR
This paper proposes a novel method to measure the $Zb\bar{b}$ coupling via single-spin asymmetry in polarized lepton DIS processes at HERA and EIC, aiming to resolve discrepancies in electroweak precision data.
Contribution
It introduces a new approach to probe anomalous $Zb\bar{b}$ couplings using $A_e^b$ asymmetry measurements at HERA and EIC, which can help resolve existing experimental tensions.
Findings
Measurement of $A_e^b$ can partially break degeneracy at HERA.
EIC measurements can verify or exclude LEP data.
Complementary constraints from EIC and HL-LHC.
Abstract
To resolve the long-standing discrepancy between the precision measurement of bottom quark forward-backward asymmetry at LEP/SLC and the Standard Model prediction, we propose a novel method to probe the coupling by measuring the single-spin asymmetry of the polarized lepton cross section in neutral current DIS processes with a -tagged jet at HERA and EIC. Depending on the tagging efficiency of the final state -jet, the measurement of at HERA can already partially break the degeneracy found in the anomalous coupling, as implied by the LEP and SLC precision electroweak data. In the first year run of the EIC, the measurement of can already break the degeneracy, due to its much larger luminosity and higher electron beam polarization. With enough integrated luminosity collected at the EIC, it is possible to either verify or exclude the…
