Center group dominance in quark confinement
Ryu Ikeda, Kei-Ichi Kondo

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that the area law behavior of double-winding Wilson loops in SU(N) lattice gauge theory can be explained by a lattice Abelian gauge theory with the center group Z_N, supporting the center dominance hypothesis in quark confinement.
Contribution
It shows that the center group Z_N captures the essential features of quark confinement in SU(N) gauge theories through Wilson loop behavior.
Findings
Center group Z_N reproduces area law falloffs of Wilson loops.
Supports the center dominance hypothesis in quark confinement.
Links non-Abelian SU(N) behavior to Abelian lattice gauge theory results.
Abstract
We show that the color dependent area law falloffs of the double-winding Wilson loop averages for the lattice gauge theory obtained in the preceding works are reproduced from the corresponding lattice Abelian gauge theory with the center gauge group . This result indicates the center group dominance in quark confinement.
