The Auditory Tuning of a Keyboard
Johan M. Broekaert

TL;DR
This paper determines an optimal, tunable auditory temperament for keyboard instruments, deriving a practical temperament that closely matches the optimal theoretical model and comparing it with historical temperaments.
Contribution
It introduces a new optimal auditory temperament for keyboards and provides a practical implementation closely aligned with the theoretical optimum.
Findings
The derived temperament fits the optimal auditory model better than historical temperaments.
A practical temperament based on the optimal model is proposed.
Comparison shows the new temperament's superior fit to the theoretical optimum.
Abstract
An optimal auditory tunable well (circular) temperament is determined. A temperament that is applicable in practice is derived from this optimum. No other historical temperament fits as well, with this optimum. A brief comparison of temperaments is worked out.
