Unitarity constraints on ALP interactions
I. Brivio, O. J. P. \'Eboli, M. C. Gonzalez-Garcia

TL;DR
This paper derives unitarity bounds on ALP interactions, especially focusing on couplings to $SU(2)_L$ gauge bosons, providing constraints on new physics models involving ALPs.
Contribution
It presents the first comprehensive unitarity constraints on gauge-invariant ALP interactions up to dimension-6 from all relevant $2\to2$ scattering processes.
Findings
Strongest bounds are from ALP-$SU(2)_L$ gauge boson scattering.
Couplings to $U(1)_Y$, $SU(3)_C$, and fermions are less constrained.
Unitarity bounds limit the parameter space of ALP models.
Abstract
We derive partial-wave unitarity constraints on gauge-invariant interactions of an Axion-Like Particle (ALP) up to dimension-6 from all allowed scattering processes in the limit of large center-of-mass energy. We find that the strongest bounds stem from scattering amplitudes with one external ALP and only apply to the coupling to a pair of gauge bosons. Couplings to and gauge bosons and to fermions are more loosely constrained.
