Viswanathan Ramachandran, Astrid Barreiro, Gabriele Liga, Alex, Alvarado

TL;DR
This paper derives an outer bound on the capacity region for a two-user nonlinear fiber optical channel affected by cross-phase modulation and dispersion, providing insights into the limits of simultaneous data transmission.
Contribution
It introduces a perturbative channel model and characterizes an outer bound on the capacity region, advancing understanding of nonlinear fiber optical communication limits.
Findings
Derived an outer bound on the capacity region.
Model accounts for cross-phase modulation and dispersion effects.
Provides theoretical limits for two-user nonlinear optical channels.
Abstract
We study a nonlinear fiber optical channel impaired by cross-phase modulation and dispersion from the viewpoint of an interference channel. We characterize an outer bound on the capacity region of simultaneously achievable rate pairs, assuming a two-user perturbative channel model.
