TL;DR
This paper demonstrates how introducing a Kerr medium in an optomechanical cavity enables the realization of ion-laser-like interactions and coupled harmonic oscillators, with a method to tune the Kerr effect for simplified Hamiltonians.
Contribution
The study presents a novel approach to simulate ion-laser interactions in optomechanical systems with Kerr nonlinearities using a unitary transformation.
Findings
Reproduction of known ion-laser-like interactions
Ability to tune Kerr medium to simplify the Hamiltonian
Implementation of coupled harmonic oscillator models
Abstract
Introducing a Kerr medium in a cavity coupled to a harmonically moving mirror, we reproduce known and solvable interactions such as two-coupled harmonic oscillators and ion-laser like interactions for specific conditions. This is achieved by a unitary transformation allowing us to tune off the Kerr medium in order to simplify the Hamiltonian.
