TL;DR
This paper predicts the single-spin asymmetry in Lambda hyperon production in SIDIS using a diquark spectator model, highlighting the potential for experimental measurement at future colliders.
Contribution
It introduces a calculation of the twist-3 fragmentation function for Lambda hyperons and predicts measurable asymmetries in SIDIS processes.
Findings
Asymmetry around 0.1 predicted for Lambda production.
Evolution of fragmentation functions influences asymmetry size.
Asymmetries may be observed at EIC, EicC, and COMPASS.
Abstract
We investigate the transverse target spin asymmetry for the unpolarized production in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering with the transverse momentum of the final-state lambda hyperon being integrated out. The asymmetry is contributed by the product of the transversity distribution function of the nucleon and the collinear twist-3 fragmentation function of the hyperon. The later one originates from the quark-gluon-quark correlation and is a naive time-reversal-odd function. We calculate of the hyperon by adopt a diquark spectator model. Using the numerical result of and the available parametrization of from SIDIS data, we predict the asymmetry in the electroproduction of the hyperon in the kinematical region of EIC, EicC and COMPASS. In the…
