Elko and Mass Dimension One Fermions: Editorial
Dharam Vir Ahluwalia

TL;DR
This editorial introduces Elko and mass dimension one fermions within quantum field theory, proposing them as a new class of particles potentially suitable as dark matter candidates.
Contribution
It provides a foundational overview of Elko fermions and explores their potential as a novel class of spin-1/2 particles and bosons for dark matter research.
Findings
Elko fermions are a new class of spin-1/2 particles.
They are potential dark matter candidates.
The paper discusses their quantum field theoretic framework.
Abstract
This editorial presents the quantum field theoretic ambiance in which Elko and mass dimension one fermions come to exist. This may serve not only to introduce Elko, and the associated quantum field, but it may also open a door to a new class of spin one half fermions and bosons. These new particles, as it will be argued in this volume, are first-principle candidates for dark matter.
